NYRS INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY SECTION Dear Members & Colleagues: It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the website of the Interventional Radiology section of the New York Roentgen Society. For the last five years, with the help of the executive committee of the NYRS, we have been successful at bringing together the Tri-State area IR community with the creation of this section. Given the challenges presented with the global pandemic over the past several years, our club has eagerly brought our case competitions, angioclubs and didactic lectures back on track. Our goal is to increase awareness of Interventional Radiology among the medical school and graduate medical education community, which continues to be exceptionally important in the current era of Independent and Integrated IR-DR training. We will be coupling with SIR this year to bring a hybrid in virtual/in person regional angioclub to a national audience. In the long term, we seek to provide unique educational experiences for practicing and future Interventional Radiologists. We are planning several meetings throughout the year dedicated to the academic, clinical, technical and economic aspects of our field. Hot topic discussions and guest speakers from around the country will allow us to integrate the newest techniques into our clinical practices. We will continue the "AngioClub" tradition of sharing interesting cases and techniques culminating in a “Case of the Year” competition for our residents and medical students. We will also introduce an open discussion of near misses and problem solving solutions to difficult clinical and procedural situations. We seek to preserve and chronicle the history and innovative spirit of our specialty through scholarships, grants and partnership with industry. On behalf of the executive committee of the Interventional Radiology section of the New York Roentgen Society, I welcome you to join us in pushing this endeavor forward. Please make sure your Society membership is up to date to take full advantage of all the offerings from the IR Section. I look forward to many years of scientific rigor, creative exploration and innovation. Vivian Bishay, MD |
